Roadies’ Fame Raghu and Rajiv Return To Host India’s First Startup Reality Show

There was a time when Indian television rightfully held the title of ‘The Idiot Box’. Endless hours of mindless ‘saas-bahu’ dramas sharing network space with an exception- MTV. And Roadies is the first thing that comes to people’s minds when someone says MTV. But what’s the buzz about startups?

Verbal insults. Zany competitions. Pointlessly ridiculous dares and two foul-mouthed celebrity judges. This is what made the show raw and at moments hilarious. The rag-tag bunch of boisterous hosts- Raghu Ram and Rajiv Lakshman will be proceeding their judgments on India’s startup scene.

Similar to shows like Shark Tank where feeble inventors and thinkers get stripped of their confidence by a panel of self-made entrepreneurs, the duo will be bringing such scenes to Indian TV sets.

How It Came To Be

Deemed as ‘India’s first start-up reality show’, even though ‘The Vault’ was released a few months ago, both hosts have left strands of details about their newest project.

“This exciting new show will be all about gutsy young minds keen on achieving their dreams,”
– said Raghu Ram.
“Rajiv and I saw a lot of potential in the idea and sat with MTV to conceptualise the show. We will not only be hosting but producing the show as well. We already have a long-standing connection with the country’s youth thanks to Roadies and aim to boost their confidence with this show.”

The dynamic duo says that they’ve been through quite a lot through their initial years of struggle and want to provide a boost to budding Indians who aspire to do something exceptional.

MTV has also agreed to the concept but being a youth-driven channel of entertainment, the show will mostly focus on unsuspecting thinkers being put to the ultimate test of their skills in front of the devilish hosts. And sure enough, the format would be similar to other youth- oriented shows but with the masala and mania that made Roadies a rating success for MTV.

The show is expected to be launched by the end of the year and will feature a wide list of guest appearances by Indian entrepreneurs who’ve already made their mark.
