Monsoon is the season which is loved by everyone. From all those rain-drenched surrounding to the beauty of nature, everything seems to be lovable. But this season also brings with it various infections which are not fatal but will surely lead you to a doctor.
We care about you so here we bring to you Health tips for Monsoons:
Save yourself from infection
Various infections (bacterial/fungal) are knocking on your door to make you ill. Though this season brings relieve from the scorching sun and excessive heat in surroundings but also comes up with various diseases. The most common infection is through sweating and perspiration. To avoid this one should try to keep dry and avoid excess perspiration. One should try to take several baths to do so. Kids are most affected by the infections in this season as their immune system is not able to fight with these infections.
Avoid Using Publics Toilets and pools
People should be careful while using public toilets and should drink plenty of water to keep the body moisturised. Swimming pools should also be avoided during this time as water is a breeding ground for bacteria and viruses. Thus Diarrhoea, typhoid and cholera are some of the diseases caused in the monsoons due to water borne diseases.
Moisturize
If you have dry skin and believe that the monsoon is a blessing in disguise to keep your skin moist, well its not the case. It is a curse in disguise! Skincare for dry skin requires a generous amount of moisturiser regularly. Make use of rose water, almond oil, and glycerine face pack before going to bed. It ensures that your skin stays healthy and supple.
Avoid eating street food and only drink purified water.
We all love Golgappas and chat-papdi but eating these in monsoons comes with a price to pay. Water and raw vegetables are not hygienic during the monsoon. Therefore you shouldn’t eat at roadside stalls where you are not sure about the hygiene and cleanliness. We should also drink boiled water to keep us away from viruses. Also, avoid intake of fried and oily foods.
Use Anti-Fungal creams
To avoid all these infections, there should be a regular washing of the parts that are prone to sweat more than others. One should apply anti- fungal creams in the infection-prone areas.
Keep Rain Gear With you Always
People should use raincoats and umbrellas when going out in the rain so as to avoid getting wet and catching infections and diseases.
Increase intake of Hot liquids
This is the season when you would like to take hot drinks when the rain is pouring outside. After taking a good bath, the best thing is to make a hot soup or coffee for yourself. This will save you from catching cold or any kind of other infection that can occur due to a sudden change in the temperature of the body.
Keep Yourself clean
Use a homemade cleanser to wash your wash, but do not wash your face dozens of times as it can lead to the dryness of skin. Use a toner which is made with green leaves, honey, mineral water and olive oil instead of alcohol based facewashes and soaps.
Increase intake of leafy vegetables
Greater intake of green leafy vegetables builds immunity and is light on the stomach. But most of the vegetables and fruits also carry the risk of infection and, therefore, should be washed properly before use. Fruits are the ideal food as they restore energy. But avoid watermelons and muskmelons and go for mangoes, apples, pomegranates, and pears, among others.
Avoid wet and dirty clothes
Do not wear wet clothes and if you are working in an office then take off your shoes and socks so that the sweat does not accumulate and cause infections. Try to wear sandals whenever possible, this will help you from various diseases/infections.
Avoid certain heavy and meat products
You should avoid eating very heavy foods as they lead to gastric disorders. The intake of dairy products should not be high as they have maximum propensity to get infected by germs. Milk, said to be a complete diet, is not advised during the monsoon season. Instead one can go for curd.
Foods such as barley, brown rice and oats are the stomach’s best friend during the monsoon season. If a dash of garlic is added to soups, stir fries and curries, it also helps building the body’s immunity.
Thus stay healthy and fit and protect yourself from the infections which are waiting outside for you to make you ill.
