The chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Mr. Mukesh Ambani broke his silence on Reliance Jio Tariffs and laid out his plans to unveil a 4G mobile network in the country on Thursday. From now onwards company will not be charging for voice calls and it will charge a tenth of what other telecom companies are charging for 4G data. Ambani himself said – it was announced that Jio will charge only 5 paise per MB or Rs 50 per GB. So moral of the story is , the greater the usage , lower the cost will be ad rates could go down to Rs 25 per GB. He also said that Jio services will become available from Monday onward i.e 5 September to December 31, absolutely free as part of the Jio welcome offer , so that each and every person can try Jio services at no charge.
“Customer can pay only for one service – either voice or data, not for both. Worldwide operators charge only for data , voice and messaging are essentially free but for Jio customers voice calls will be absolutely free.”
Addressing the company’s 42th annual general meeting which held in Mumbai for an hour , he said that the 4G network of reliance Jio would cover 90 per cent of India’s 1.25 billion population by March 2017 and would eventually cover 18000 cities and 200,000 villages.
Reliance Jio will offer users data services free for four months, after which it will offer 10 tariff plans starting at Rs 19 a day for occasional users, Rs 149 a month for low data users and Rs 4,999 a month for heavy data users. It was officially available with 4G smartphones of 19 different brands including LYF , Samsung , LG , Panasonic, ASUS , Gionee , Karbonn , Lava , Xolo , Videocon , Sansui , Sony , Micromax , YU , Alcatel , TCL , VIVO , Intex and HTC 4G phones.
Starting next year, RIL will start rolling out its planned tariffs and consumers will have to pick one up to continue using the sim card.
What to do for quick sim activation?
Reliance Industries Limited has said that once the services are live and running, it should take only 15 minutes to have your sim up and running and for enjoying quick activation consumers will need to have a valid Aadhar card . So it would be better if you have one.
Now the question is, How much will you have to pay after December 31, 2016 ?
While announcing Jio , Ambani said that -” Jio is more than just a business for us. Our commitment is to enrich every Indian’s life”. So after December 31, consumers who wish to continue with Jio have to select a tariff plan. To ensure every customer gets the best out of Jio, the company will offer a total of tariff 10 plans.
The companies have tied up with corporate houses that are pre-registered with press information bureau or PIB which basically means every big media house across India. The company intends on collaborating with other corporate houses as well slowly and gradually and also will launch special-discounted-plans for companies. Moreover, students will get 25 per cent extra data to show a valid id card while subscribing to the plan.
