Taimur Ali Khan: Saif and Kareena Went out of the Way to Choose This Stupid Name for Their Kid

There is a reason why Hindus don’t name their kids after kaikeyi, Kans, Ravana, Manthara and the like.

Our world runs by examples. We don’t want to repeat what some characters, who were evil, had done. By not naming the young ones after certain figures, we seek to remind ourselves not to repeat the mistakes that they committed. Although this approach is pretty orthodoxical. But this is just a human way to express disapproval and despise towards the bad and the wrongful.

Names have nothing to do with one’s action. But names do signify the aspirations of the parents. One cannot disagree that parents put a lot of time in carefully selecting a name for their offsprings. Names do hold some meaning attached to it.

Kareena Kapoor’s pregnancy was closely being followed by the media. Yesterday, when Saif and Kareena gave birth to a baby boy, media hung onto the baby boy’s name i.e., Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi.

Taimur was a Turco-Mongol conqueror who invaded India in the 14th century. He was a military leader and was highly authoritative. He is believed to have killed 17 million people. He slaughtered people claiming it to be a holy war against Hindu religion.

 

Now, so many people discussing this issue is useless but at the same time interesting. While it is totally a parents’ discretion to decide their kid’s name, Saif and Kareena are national celebrities and one cannot help but wonder why would they name their first child after a barbarian.

It’s even more surprising for me when I come to know about this part of Kareena’s recent interview, where she said that her husband Saif Ali Khan reads a lot of historical literature and he would certainly want a historical name for his child ( Source: TOI ). So, he was not at all ignorant about the historical connection of this name and that makes it more pathetic.

If it isn’t a publicity stunt (which would be a disgraceful and disgusting accusation), then I believe there exist hundreds of beautiful names. Nowadays we also have access to ‘name dictionary’. Wonder why wouldn’t people use it when they are out of names?!

Okay, here is one logic on Twitter to justify this name:

So, having the same name doesn’t assure having the same character but it certainly indicates the motivation of parents while choosing the name. By giving a name “Ram”, his parents wanted the kid to be like Ram but he didn’t turn out that way. Similarly, we all wish for the brightest future of this newborn baby but are unable to understand the parent’s motivation.

One more tweet that does make sense:

In fact, in New Zealand you can’t name your child Messiah or Justice according to the 1995 rules around the acceptable names for newborn Kiwis based on the Births, Deaths, Marriages and Relationships Registration Act.

Similarly, In 2002, A Turkish couple living in Germany tried to name their child as Osama bin Laden but have been refused permission by German officials. ( Source: CNN ) . “Hitler” is also banned as a name for that reason.

While it’s totally fine to give a thought or comment on this but it’s such a shock to read a disgusting and hateful tweet like this:

Anyways, my heartiest congratulations to the Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor for their new born baby. Let’s hope for the brightest future of this star kid.
