We all get scared. But then having panic attacks and anxiety disorders classify them as phobias to you. These are some of the most unusual and unfamiliar phobias.
1. Coulrophobia -Fear of Clowns
Do clowns disgust you? Do you have bad dreams about these disgusting creatures? If the answer is yes , then my friend you are suffering from Coulrophobia. Apart from children, this phobia has also been found in adults and teenagers.
2. Pediophobia – Fear of Dolls
You can’t sleep because of your little sister’s doll? Does Annabelle or any other horror movie with dolls scare the shit out of you? Pediophobia is also related to Automatonophobia (fear of ventriloquist’s dummies, animatronic creatures, wax statues or anything that represents a being that appears to have feelings or perceptions).
3. Triskaidekaphobia – Fear of number 13
We all have heard that Friday the 13th is something to fear and it brings bad luck. But it’s actually a phobia. There are people around you that shit in their pants thinking about number 13.
4. Bibliophobia – Fear of books
Bibliophobia is an unusual fear of books. It is generally the fear of books but is also connected with a fear of reading or reading out aloud or in a public gathering . The fear may also be restricted to a certain genre of books.
5. Ithyphallophobia – Fear of Erections
Yes! You read it right. there are people who either have a fear of seeing someone with an erection or if he is a male, the fear of having an erection, especially when they are in public.
6. Arachnophobia – Fear of Spiders
Ewww!!!
Don’t these little slimy creatures freak you out? The reactions of arachnophobes may seem irrational to others and sometimes to the arachnophobes themselves. This phobia is the most common one and almost everybody jumps at the site of this disgusting reptile.
7. Anthropophobia – Fear of People
This is a kind of social phobia. Anthropophobia is an extreme pathological form of shyness. These people feel uneasiness in social gatherings and mostly refrain from going out. This can also lead to anxiety disorders in certain cases.
8. Pteronophobia – The fear of being tickled by a feather
You heard it right. There are people who fear the touch of these little white feathers. According to various researchers, this happens due to few bad events as a child, possibly as a baby where they felt trapped by the person tickling them.

This is the phobia of being exposed or bare. This one is an exaggerated or irrational fear that many people possess.
13. Biphobia – Fear of bisexual or LGBT People
Biphobia is distaste toward bisexuality and bisexual individuals as a social crowd or as individuals. People of any sexual alignment can experience or spread such feelings of dislike.
14. Cynophobia – Fear of Dogs
Do you run when you see a dog? Then my friend you suffer from cynophobia. It is an irrational fear of dogs which causes an aversion towards dogs.
15. Genophobia – Fear of Sexual Intercourse
Genophobia is also called as coitophobia. It is the aversion towards sexual intercourse or even acts that lead to it. Genophobia is most likely developed after a severe traumatic act.
16. Ablutophobia – Fear of Washing, Bathing, or Cleaning
Ablutophobia is the insistent, unusual and unjustified fear of washing, bathing, or cleaning. It tends to be more common amongst children and women than in men and particularly with those people who are very emotional. Such a fear makes you feel sad and lonely. It might be an effect of an event from the past involving bathing, washing or cleaning to an emotional shock.

18. Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia – Fear of the number 666
Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia is a Greek word. It means “fear of the number six hundred sixty-six”. Does something like this even exist?
19. Pentheraphobia – Fear of your Mother-In-Law
Most of the married people suffer from this heart-wrecking phobia, at one time or other. This is so common in the western society that it appears frequently in the entertainment industry. Novercaphobia is another phobia somewhat related to this, in which sufferer is fearful of his/her stepmother. Cinderella had this phobia.
20. Technophobia – Fear of Technology
The person suffering from this has the feeling of severe anxiety and fear associated with using anything that is technologically advanced.
21. Emetophobia – Fear of Vomiting

Most people don’t even know that this fear is so common to have its own specific name. Some are frightened that they will vomit. Others are scared of seeing others vomit. Most have worry telling what they fear will happen if they vomit, or see others vomit, but imprecisely fear an awful loss of control, a devastation from which they won’t recover.
22. Ligyrophobia – Fear of Loud Noises
This fear has many names Acousticophobia, Ligyrophobia, phonophobia or sonophobia . No matter how alert we are, a sudden alarm or bell often leads us scared and anxiety struck.
23. Porphyrophobia – Fear of the Color Purple
The fear of any color is associated with destructive associations. The fear can grow as a result of opinion or personal experience, but it often goes back to either a conscious or subconscious, but highly negative link between the color purple or something that left a lasting negative imprint.
24. Ornithophobia – Fear of Birds
Are people even scared of those cute little flying creatures? shocked? Some people fear of only birds like vultures and eagles, while others are even afraid of household pets like parakeets or parrots.

Most of us like to sleep and see it as a basic need to survive. But there are some individuals in the world who also suffer from anxiety disorders related to sleep. It is different from insomnia. Often the victim is scared of what might happen if he falls asleep.
28. Turophobia – Fear of Cheese
This kind of phobia is typically caused by a disturbing childhood memory. The victim throws up at the sight, smell or taste of cheese.
29. Agyrophobia – Fear of Crossing the Street
The word “Agyrophobia” comes from the Greek “Gyrus” which means turning or whirling. Agyrophobics avoid the whirl of traffic. These people have a fear of crossing streets, highways, and other thoroughfares, or a fear of thoroughfares themselves and hence it becomes very difficult for them to live comfortably in a city.
30. Eisoptrophobia – Fear of Mirrors
When broadly speaking, Eisoptrophobia is termed as the fear of mirrors, but it’s the fear of looking inside. Their fears are mostly superstitious in nature. They may fear to look into the mirror as they believe it will bring them in contact with a supernatural world inside the glass. They also believe that breaking a mirror will bring bad luck or so.
31. Panphobia – Fear of Everything
Here comes the last one – Panphobia. The state of mind where someone fears from anything and everything . They are in a constant state of anxiety. In this phobic condition, anxiety passes from one situation to the next no matter what the situation is.
