Today is 1st May and this day is celebrated as Armour Day by Indian Army every year to commemorate the commencement of mechanisation of the Indian Cavalry Regiments. On 1st May 1938, The Scinde horse became the first regiment to leave their horses and become equipped with tanks .The first such equipment was the Vickers light tanks and Chevrolet Armoured Cars. Since then Indian Army started celebrating Armour Corps Day every year on 1st May.
