World famous Chinese actor and martial arts star Jackie Chan finally received an Oscar on Saturday at the annual Governors Awards. He has worked in more than 200 films for five decades in the movie industry and unfortunately couldn’t manage to get any Oscar till now.
Jackie Chan received this Honorary Award at the 2016 Governors Awards on Saturday, November 12. The event was organized in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood, CA,
It was a “dream come true” moment for him. Jackie Chan said that 23 years ago when he saw an Oscar at Sylvester Stallone’s house, that was the moment he decided he wanted one. When he was referring to this incident, Sylvester was seen emotionally capturing the moment with his iPhone.
Jackie Chan was indeed super excited at the award ceremony. He also recalled watching the ceremony with his parents and also how his father used to ask why he didn’t have any Oscar despite having made so many movies.
There was a funny moment when everyone thought that the speech was over. The academy award show band was already started playing in the background ( which is supposed to be played at the end of the speech) But then Jackie recalled that he forgot to say few things, and so he tried to stop the band in the most childish way possible.
Watch how he responded:
The whole speech is so real, natural and uplifting. Watch the full speech here:
