All You Need To Know About Inktober- The Popular Annual Celebration Of Ink Drawing

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came –
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.”
George Cooper

October, the harbinger of autumn, has arrived with all its grace. While all of us are high on the benign October weather, we haven’t realized that we are almost through another year of our lives. Now that requires some sort of celebration, doesn’t it?

Actually, the best idea is to celebrate each month and there are various ways to cherish the 12 different months. Owing to the beautiful weather of fall, October is called the month of poets, authors, painters, musicians etc.

Let me tell you a modest way to celebrate the onset of October.

It was started in 2009 by “Jake Parker” who is a comics short-story creator, concept artist, illustrator, and animator. He started it as a challenge to himself to improve his drawing and inking skills while also encouraging good drawing habits.

What Do We Do In Inktober?

In order to participate in Inktober, all we have to do is draw an ink drawing per day the entire month. We don’t necessarily have to be a professional. Anyone can participate. Either we can draw one ink drawing per day or we can do it on alternate days of the month or we could draw once every week till the end of October.

Inktober rules

1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).

2) Post it online

3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2016

4) Repeat
