First lady Michelle Obama being a lady too humble, always aims to closely connect with her people. This she yet again made it a point on her carpool karaoke ride with James Corden, host of The Late Late Show.
James Corden started off his new carpool segment after being inspired by a Gavin & Stacey themed sketch he had participated in for a British charity.
He sang along with George Michael in a car, stating that :
“Ben Winston and I always thought there was something very joyful about someone very, very famous singing their songs in an ordinary situation. We just had this idea: Los Angeles, traffic, the carpool lane, maybe this is something we could pull off.”
The segment has already featured artists such as Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Stevie Wonder, Adele, Mariah Carey, One Direction, Sia, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and many more. These have proven as popular as viral videos on its Youtube channel.
The Carpool Karaoke segment featuring Adele reached 42 million views within 5 days. It was the most viral video originating from a late night show since 2013 by beating the 31 million viewed trailer of Captain America: Civil War in the same time period.
